Lee Kuan Yew (1923– ) is a prominent Singaporean statesman. He was the first prime minister of the Republic of Singapore and governed the island nation for three decades (1959–1990). By the time he stepped down to enable a smooth leadership renewal, he had become the world’s longest-serving prime minister. He was Singapore’s senior minister (SM) from 1990 to 2004 and then minister mentor (MM) from 2004 to 2011. As the co-founder and first secretary-general of the People’s Action Party (PAP), he led the party to eight victories from 1959 to 1990, oversaw the separation of Singapore from Malaysia in 1965, and engineered its subsequent transformation from an underdeveloped colonial outpost with no natural resources into a First-World Asian Tiger. He remains one of the most influential political figures in Southeast Asia.

It covers four decades, including the period before Lee became the prime minister of Singapore and the period when he served as the prime minister. It consists of ten volumes covering the following years: 1950–1962 (Volume 1), 1963–July 1965 (Volume 2), August 1965–1966 (Volume 3), 1967–1968 (Volume 4), 1969–1971 (Volume 5), 1972–1974 (Volume 6), 1975–1977 (Volume 7), 1978–1980 (Volume8), 1981–1987 (Volume 9), and 1988–1990 (Volume 10).

台中民調林佳龍略勝 年輕選民成關鍵
【台灣醒報記者譚有勝台北報導】台中市選情愈演愈烈，綠營智庫最新民調指出，民進黨籍參選人林佳龍支持度為42%，盧秀燕則是33.5%，兩人差距將近10%，其中年輕選民有51%支持林佳龍。政治學者吳瑟致教授分析，雖然年輕人肯定林佳龍的表現，但若林佳龍仍將市政重點停留在傳統的居住、養育，恐無法滿足年輕人的需求。范世平教授也認為，台中的年輕人口逐年上升，年輕選民勢必會成為兩黨必爭之地。
台灣世代智庫27日公布台中市選舉民調。本次調查顯示，林佳龍支持度為42.0%，盧秀燕支持度為33.5%，兩人差距8.5個百分點。看好度方面，過半民眾看好林佳龍會當選(50.3%)，僅28.1%的民眾看好盧秀燕選情。此外，52.5%的民眾認為與四年前相比，台中市有進步，認為沒有進步的受訪者僅佔37.1%。
本次調查特別針對兩位候選人的執政能力進行系列評比。治理能力方面，40.4%的市民認為林佳龍較有能力治理台中市，認為盧秀燕較有能力的民眾佔26.8%。40.8%民眾認為林佳龍較了解市民需要，認為盧秀燕較了解的比例佔28.8%。
調查也指出，39.2%的民眾認為林佳龍較能解決市民問題，認為盧秀燕較有能力者佔29.4%。42.5%民眾認為林佳龍較能為市民爭取福利，認為盧秀燕較有能力的民眾則佔31.7%。39.6%民眾認為林佳龍較能改善市民生活，認為盧秀燕較有能力者佔32.1%。
台北海洋科技大學兼任助理教授吳瑟致分析，總體而言，多數民眾對林佳龍的市政表現都較為滿意，且20-29歲中的年輕人更肯定林佳龍的表現（51%），但值得注意的是，僅有34.6%的民眾認為林佳龍能解決台中市民的問題，相反地有37.3%的民眾認為盧秀燕能解決台中市民的問題，顯見多數年輕人並未完全滿意台中市的發展，若林佳龍仍停留在傳統的居住、養育市政，恐無法滿足年輕人的需求。
師大政治系教授范世平則認為，過去台中雖然也有淹水的問題，但應不至於對其民調造成太致命的危險。他說，盧秀燕一直都是林佳龍強勁的對手，從民調整體觀察，林佳龍支持度穩定領先10%，其中年輕族群對林佳龍的支持度比較高。
范世平說，現在台中市已是第2大都市，年輕人口也不斷湧入台中，在僅剩不到100天的選戰裡，年輕選民勢必會成為兩黨必爭之地。值得注意的是，因國民黨強調兩岸一家親，東亞青運已對國民黨選情造成一定的影響，但是否會成為選舉的決勝點有待觀察。
